Skylight Drilling Rig Control System

A raise boring machine (RBM) is a piece of mechanical equipment used to drill vertical or inclined shafts (raises) in underground engineering projects. It is widely employed in sectors such as mining, hydropower, tunnels, and subways for constructing ventilation shafts, safety passages, ore transport shafts, pressure shafts, and other similar structures.
A wellhead drilling rig typically consists of a main frame system, a rotary power system, a propulsion and lifting system, a drill string system, a hydraulic system, and a guidance and control system.
The electrical control system for shaft drilling rigs is specifically designed to withstand the harsh environmental conditions of mining sites—high temperatures, high humidity, and heavy dust. Building on an overall IP55 protection rating, this system is additionally equipped with powerful cooling and dehumidification devices. These devices ensure a stable internal environment for all electrical control components housed within the cabinet, including soft starters, frequency converters, and intelligent controllers. By maintaining optimal temperature and humidity levels inside the cabinet, the system’s continuous and reliable operation is effectively guaranteed.
The entire electronic control system employs a vehicle-wide wiring harness and connector docking process, and all harness terminals are molded using injection molding. This not only ensures the sealing and foolproof design of all external connections but also reduces the complexity of system use and maintenance, thereby enhancing operational safety and extending equipment lifespan.
The electrical control system of the shaft drilling rig is powered by a hydraulic pump, which is controlled by either a soft starter or a frequency converter along with an intelligent controller. The system features protective measures such as leakage protection, phase-sequence protection, motor overload protection, diesel-engine interlock, and battery reverse-charge prevention. The entire system is equipped with a wireless remote-control terminal featuring a digital graphical interface, providing intuitive parameter display and significantly enhancing operational safety and convenience. Not only does this system enable high-precision guidance, but it also boasts multi-machine coordination capabilities, making it a comprehensive solution capable of achieving unmanned on-site operation.
